Hatpin, long, ornamental pin used for decoration and for fastening a woman's hat or scarf securely to her hair. In the late Victorian era and the beginning of the 20th century, the hatpin became a popular and important clothing accessory. Hatpins were usually about 8 cm long and were often worn in pairs.
